14.  Hiram, king of Tyre, sent cedar logs, stonemasons and carpenters to build David's palace -- At Jerusalem David takes more wives and has more children -- After inquiring of God, David defeats the Philistines 
15.  David prepared a tent in Jerusalem for the Ark of God -- He assembles the people of Israel again to bring the Ark of God to Jerusalem -- This time it is done properly, with the Levites carrying the ark on poles as God had commanded Moses -- David has the Levite leaders appoint men to the duties of the tabernacle
16.  The Ark of God is placed within the tent David had prepared for it -- Burnt offerings and fellowship offerings were presented to the Lord -- David gives gifts of bread, cakes of dates and cakes of raisins to each man and woman -- David appoints the musicians for the tabernacle -- David's psalm of praise

19.  David sends a delegation to Hanun, the new king of the Ammonites to extend sympathy after his father, Nahash died -- Hanun's advisors misled him, and the delegation was humiliated and sent away by Hanun instead of being received graciously -- The Ammonites realize they made a huge mistake, and seek assistance from the Arameans -- When David hears this, he sent his entire army to fight -- Joab's plan brings victory over the Arameans and the Ammonites -- But then even more Arameans came to fight, and David's army met them -- David  defeated them so soundly that the Arameans became subject to David and were not willing to help the Ammonites any more
20.  Joab leads the Israelites to victory against the Ammonites at Rabbah -- Rabbah is left in ruins, the king is taken and David removes the king's crown and places it on his own head -- The city was plundered and the people were consigned to hard labor -- David did the same to all the Ammonite towns -- Some time later, David was also victorious in battles against the Philistines
21.  Though Joab tries to dissuade him, David sins by having the Israelites counted -- David was given the choice of having 3 years of famine, 3 months of being swept away by Israel's enemies or 3 days of plague sent by God in the land -- David realized he is in great distress -- He decides to fall into the hands of God, for His mercy is great, rather than falling into the hands of men -- The plague the Lord sends kills 70,000 men of Israel -- David and his officials, dressed in sackcloth fall face down at the sight of the angel of the Lord standing at the threshing floor of Araunah, the Jebusite -- David pleads for the people, and the angel of the Lord commands David to build an altar on the threshing floor -- When Araunah offers to give David, the king, the threshing floor and everything needed for the offering,  David insists on buying it all at full price -- David builds the altar and prepares the offerings -- God answers David by sending fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering
22.  David makes extensive preparations for building the temple by gathering a great store of supplies, though he knows that Solomon, his son, will actually build it -- David counsels Solomon about the building of the temple, and blesses him -- David ordered all the leaders of Israel to help his son, Solomon, in building the temple when he becomes king
23.  When David became old, he made his son, Solomon, king over Israel -- David called the leaders of Israel, the priests and Levites together -- He divided the Levites into groups; the Gershonites, the Kohathites and the Merarites -- The duties of the Levites were to assist Aaron's descendants in ministering as priests
24.  David assigns the descendants of Aaron into divisions for serving, in an appointed order, in the temple as priests -- The rest of the Levites are organized
25.  David set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun as singers and musicians for the temple
26.  David organizes the divisions of gatekeepers for the temple -- The treasurers who were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the dedicated things were selected -- Other officials to handle matters pertaining to God and the king's affairs were also selected

28.  David assembles all the officials of Israel to tell them of his plans for the temple -- God had told David that he was not to actually build the temple, but David did much to prepare for its construction -- David tells the officials and leaders that God had chosen Solomon to be king and to build the temple -- David charges the officials to be careful to follow all the commands of God -- He also charges Solomon to serve God whole-heartedly -- David gives Solomon the detailed plans for the temple
29.  David gives his personal treasuries for the temple and challenges the people to give, as well, which they gladly do -- David's prayer -- Solomon is acknowleged as king -- David dies after ruling Israel 40 years
